Connect your email with an app password

Jobmadic sends your applications from your own email address, so employers reply straight to you. To connect your email, you need its address and an app password: a separate password your provider makes for one app. It isn't your normal password, and you can cancel it at any time without changing anything else.

How it works

  1. Find your provider below and make an app password, following its steps.
  2. In Jobmadic, choose Connect your email (Settings → Email, or when you apply), enter your address and the app password.
  3. Jobmadic finds the server settings, signs in to check them and stores the password encrypted. It sends only what you send, and you can disconnect at any time.

Gmail and Google Workspace

2-Step Verification must be on for your Google Account.

Make a Gmail app password

  1. Open myaccount.google.com/apppasswords and sign in.
  2. If Google says the page isn't available, first turn on 2-Step Verification (Security → 2-Step Verification), then open the link again.
  3. Type a name such as "Jobmadic" and select Create.
  4. Copy the 16-character password Google shows and paste it here as the app password (spaces don't matter).
  • Changing your Google password cancels every app password: make a new one if Jobmadic stops sending.
  • Work or school accounts (Google Workspace): your administrator may have turned app passwords or IMAP off.
  • Gmail sends up to 500 emails a day from a personal account.

Work, school or own domain

Work, school or your own domain

  1. Use your full email address and its normal password, unless your organisation uses two-step sign-in: then ask for (or create) an app password.
  2. Jobmadic looks the server settings up from your address. If it can't, they are in your hosting control panel (cPanel: Email → Email Accounts → Connect Devices) or with your IT team: usually IMAP on port 993 (SSL) and SMTP on 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS).
  3. Enter them under Server settings if needed, then Connect.

Outlook, Hotmail and Microsoft 365

No app passwords
  1. Microsoft no longer lets other apps sign in to Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live or Microsoft 365 mail with a password or an app password (switched off in September 2024 for personal accounts).
  2. Connect them with Microsoft sign-in instead: choose "Sign in with Microsoft" (or "Connect Microsoft"), sign in and allow Jobmadic to send email for you. No password is shared with Jobmadic.
  3. Work or school accounts: if Microsoft says an administrator must approve Jobmadic, ask your IT team, or use another address.
