Position : Agricultural Production Manager - Lusaka

Job Summary
The Agricultural Production Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing agricultural production activities to achieve high productivity, quality, profitability, and sustainable use of resources. The role involves managing crops, farm operations, employees, machinery, inputs, budgets, and compliance with agricultural standards.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement annual and seasonal crop production plans.
• Oversee land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilisation, pest and disease control, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
• Monitor crop performance, yields, quality, and production costs.
• Manage farm labour, supervisors, contractors, machinery, equipment, and agricultural inputs.
• Develop and manage production budgets while controlling operational costs.
• Implement modern and sustainable farming practices to improve productivity.
• Coordinate procurement and efficient use of seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, feed, equipment, and other farm inputs.
• Monitor irrigation systems, soil fertility, water use, and environmental practices.
• Identify and manage agricultural risks, including pests, diseases, weather conditions, and market-related challenges.
• Maintain accurate production records and prepare regular operational and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and agricultural regulations.
• Train, supervise, and motivate farm employees and technical teams.
• Work closely with Agronomists, Finance, Procurement, Sales, and other departments to achieve production targets.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Management, Crop Science, or a related field.
• 7–15 years of relevant agricultural production experience, preferably in a commercial farming environment.
• Proven experience managing large-scale agricultural or farm production operations.
• Strong knowledge of crop production, irrigation, soil management, pest and disease control, and farm machinery.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control, production planning, and team management.
• Knowledge of modern, sustainable, and climate-smart agricultural practices is an advantage.
