Assistant Human Resource Officer

The Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) was established in 1988 to procure, store, distribute and sell fertilizer to smallholder farmers across the country, with a mandate to ensure continuous access to affordable fertilizer.

SFFRFM is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates of Malawian origin for the position of Assistant Human Resource Officer.

• Reporting to: Human Resource Manager

Purpose of the Job

• The Assistant Human Resource Officer will be responsible for providing human resource management and development services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting in interpreting and implementing conditions of service, policies and procedures in accordance with labour laws.
• Organising, coordinating and conducting recruitment, selection and placement of staff.
• Handling medical and pension schemes.
• Assisting with processing payroll.
• Assisting in handling disciplinary and grievance issues.
• Enforcing adherence to HR policies and regulations.
• Conducting training needs assessments and developing staff development and training plans and programmes.
• Preparing periodic reports.
• Maintaining employee information in the HR information system.
• Maintaining HR records.

Qualifications and Work Experience

• A Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or any related field.
• Three years of proven experience in human resource management and administration.

Additional Skills and Abilities

• Planning, coordination and negotiation skills.
• Thorough knowledge of HR policies, procedures and processes, and labour laws.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision; self-confident with strong networking skills.
• A self-starter, team player, with people management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations.
• Knowledge of ICT.
