Chinese Translator

We are looking for a Chinese Translator to support a company operating at the Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) in Lusaka, Zambia. The successful candidate will serve as a linguistic bridge between the Chinese management and technical teams and the local Zambian workforce and partners.

About the Role

This position goes beyond standard translation work, as it requires an understanding of the technical nuances of the employer's industry. Candidates with an engineering background are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, real-time verbal interpretation between Chinese and English during meetings, site visits, and daily operations.
• Translate technical documents, engineering drawings, blueprints, manuals, and contracts between Chinese and English.
• Facilitate communication between Chinese expatriate staff and local employees to ensure smooth workflow and understanding.
• Assist with translating correspondence, reports, and presentations.
• Ensure technical terminology is translated correctly and consistently across all materials.
• Support administrative and HR tasks involving cross-cultural communication as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience in translation/interpretation, preferably within an industrial, mining, or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and terminology.
• Excellent communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work in the MFEZ area, Lusaka.
