Credit Assessor

Loanco Financial Services Limited, a Bank of Zambia licensed non-bank deposit-taking microfinance institution specialising in payroll lending, is expanding its Credit team to keep pace with growing loan volumes. The company is looking for a Credit Assessor to join its Lusaka office, reporting to the Credit and Admin Manager.

The Role

The Credit Assessor takes ownership of each loan application from receipt through to a final recommendation. This includes capturing details, assessing creditworthiness, conducting CRB checks, reviewing affordability and external settlements, and recommending whether an application should be approved, rejected or held for further information.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and open loan applications, taking immediate ownership of each file.
• Capture complete client and employer details on the loan management system.
• Carry out full credit assessments, including document verification, affordability analysis, CRB checks and external settlement procedures.
• Prepare clear recommendations (approve, reject or pending) for the Credit Manager.
• Keep accurate system notes and ensure compliance with credit policy and Bank of Zambia requirements.
• Support daily pay-away readiness by completing assessments on time.

Requirements

• Experience in payroll credit assessment; a Diploma or Degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration or a related field is not required but will be considered an advantage.
• At least 1–2 years' experience in credit assessment, loan processing or credit administration within a bank, microfinance institution or payroll-lending environment.
• Strong understanding of affordability analysis, CRB checks and document verification.
• High attention to detail, integrity and the ability to take full ownership of files.
• Computer literate, including Excel and loan management systems.

Remuneration

• Competitive, market-aligned package, with a gross monthly salary ranging from ZMW 10,000 to ZMW 11,500 depending on experience.
