Position : General Mechanic - Lusaka and Chambeshi

We are seeking a General Mechanic to join our team. This position involves performing comprehensive inspections, routine servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment supported by Delta Auto. The role is vital in ensuring the reliability, safety, and optimal performance of our machinery, while providing responsive workshop and field-service support in a dynamic professional environment.
Missions:

• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on excavators, construction, and mining equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot common mechanical issues affecting engines, transmissions, axles, braking systems, chassis, and undercarriage components.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, and refit mechanical parts following strict safety and workshop procedures to maintain equipment integrity.
• Identify faults requiring advanced hydraulic, electrical, or electronic diagnosis, and escalate or assist with complex repairs as needed.
• Complete workshop repairs, deliver customer-site servicing, and respond to emergency field call-outs at designated locations to minimize downtime.

All applicants must hold a relevant vocational or technical training certificate. Recruitment is open to both newly qualified candidates with no prior experience and experienced professionals with at least three years of practical mechanical expertise. Advanced skills are considered advantageous rather than mandatory.
Additional Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records of work orders, service histories, fault logs, including symptoms, corrective actions, and spare parts used.
• Provide basic maintenance guidance and technical advice to customers, and report recurring issues to management and the service team for continuous improvement.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures, manage tools and workspaces efficiently, support spare parts inventory control, and uphold 5S workplace standards to ensure a safe and organized working environment.

Minimum Candidate Requirements
Profile:

• Required experience level in mechanical and automotive sectors, including vocational or technical training.
• Required education level: relevant vocational or technical certification.
• Required language(s): English.
• Company activity sectors: automotive, mining, construction, and heavy equipment maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills

• Completion of relevant vocational or technical training with applicable certification.
• For entry-level candidates: recent vocational or technical graduates with no prior work experience.
• For experienced candidates: minimum three years of practical experience in mechanical servicing and repairs.
• Strong mechanical abilities: capable of inspecting, servicing, and repairing common mechanical systems, and diagnosing faults in engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, chassis, and related components.
• Proficient in using workshop tools, following maintenance instructions, job cards, and adhering to safe repair procedures.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious with good record-keeping, teamwork, and basic customer communication skills.
• Physically fit and willing to perform work in various environments, including workshops, outdoor sites, customer locations, mining sites, and during urgent call-outs.
• Preferred additional skills: experience with hydraulic systems, electrical or electronic diagnostics, and familiarity with construction and mining equipment.
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and English maintenance manuals.
• Relevant trade qualifications or certificates in mechanical, automotive, electrical, welding, or heavy equipment trades.
• Experience working in mining, authorized dealerships, large workshops, or fleet maintenance environments.
