Inspector – Prudential Supervision (General Insurance) – Insurance

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager Prudential Supervision (General Insurance), the Inspector – Prudential Supervision (General Insurance) – Insurance will undertake risk-based supervision of general insurers to protect policyholders and maintain financial stability.

Specific Duties

• License general insurers conducting insurance or insurance-related business to ensure compliance with the Act.
• Inspect general insurers and make recommendations to maintain up-to-date risk profiles and financial stability.
• Evaluate reinsurance programmes submitted by general insurers to ensure sufficient capacity to meet policyholder obligations.
• Undertake capacity-building programmes for the general insurance industry to enhance competence and compliance.
• Analyse returns, audited financial statements and other information to monitor general insurers' performance and ability to meet policyholder obligations.
• Evaluate persons with significant influence associated with general insurers for compliance with the law.
• Develop stakeholder partnerships to enhance supervision and financial stability.

Requirements

• Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with credit or better in Mathematics and English.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Full CA Zambia or equivalent.
• At least 4 years' relevant experience.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• ZAQA certification for all qualifications.
