Legal Officer

Position Overview

The successful candidate will provide legal support across the business, manage litigation and recovery matters, support contract drafting and review, and provide legal advisory services to ensure the company’s interests are protected and its operations remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

Focus areas: Litigation, Debt Recovery, Legal Advisory.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage litigation and represent the company in court across Zambia.
• Support loan recovery, including enforcement of judgments and security.
• Provide legal opinions and advice to management and business units.
• Liaise with external lawyers, courts and law enforcement agencies.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian laws, court procedures and professional standards.
• Handle debt recovery, commercial disputes and enforcement proceedings.
• Draft, review and advise on contracts, agreements, notices and pleadings.
• Monitor cases, keep accurate records and report on outcomes.
• Identify legal risks and recommend practical mitigation measures.
• Undertake regular road travel to courts, branches and clients nationwide.

Requirements

• LLB from a recognised institution.
• ZIALE and admission to the Zambian Bar.
• Valid practising certificate.
• At least 3 years of post-admission experience; 5 or more years is an advantage.
• Litigation experience in debt recovery and commercial disputes.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to all provinces.
