Our school is looking for a practical, proactive and organised Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor to keep its campuses safe, functional and well presented. This is a hands-on position: the successful candidate will personally carry out repairs while leading and coordinating the grounds and maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out carpentry, painting, drilling, secure wall mounting, furniture repairs and general handyman work.
- Inspect classrooms, bathrooms, playgrounds, buildings and outdoor spaces daily, identifying issues before they escalate.
- Oversee gardening, grass watering, pruning, irrigation and overall grounds presentation.
- Supervise all grounds and maintenance staff, assign tasks and maintain daily, weekly and monthly work schedules.
- Maintain a repairs register, a preventative maintenance calendar and completion reports.
- Control tools, equipment and consumables through issue-and-return logs, secure storage and regular stocktakes.
- Monitor materials, minimise wastage and request approved purchases when needed.
- Follow the school's safeguarding and health-and-safety requirements, referring specialist work to qualified contractors.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven hands-on experience in general maintenance, carpentry, painting and secure mounting/installation.
- Experience supervising a small maintenance or grounds team.
- Strong initiative, practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to keep accurate schedules, maintenance records and inventory logs.
- Reliability, physical capability and comfort working in a school environment.
- A relevant trade qualification, landscaping experience and a driver's licence are advantageous.
Additional Information
- This is not a desk-based supervisory role; the successful candidate must be willing and able to perform maintenance tasks alongside the team.
How to Apply
- Submit a CV outlining practical experience and contactable references through the Apply button on this page.
- Application deadline: 5 December 2026.
