Permanent Sales Clerk

The Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) was established in 1988 as a Trust to procure, store, distribute and sell fertilizer to smallholder farmers across the country, ensuring continuous access to affordable fertilizer. The Fund is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated candidates of Malawian origin for the position below.

Permanent Sales Clerk (1)

• Reporting to: Regional Business Manager

Purpose of the Job

• To conduct sales of fertilizer and non-fertilizer items.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct sales of fertilizer and non-fertilizer products, ensuring that cash sales with correct information are issued to customers
• Receive and store fertilizers efficiently and professionally
• Take charge of all satellite depot operations
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records
• Compile and index all documentation clearly on a day-to-day basis
• Prepare daily sales summaries
• Assist customers in choosing the right fertilizer and non-fertilizer products, and advise them on application methods
• Practise good customer care
• Make administrative decisions for security guards and the porter under their control, including duty rosters, in liaison with the Regional Business Manager

Qualifications and Experience

• MSCE with at least a credit in Mathematics and English
• Professional Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Agriculture, Business Management or a related field from a reputable institution
• Experience in a similar position and computer literacy will be an added advantage
• At least three (3) years' work experience in a busy organisation
• Should be between 25 and 40 years of age
• Honest and of sober habits
• Good interpersonal skills
• Competent in counting and handling cash
• A self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision
• No criminal record
