  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, vendor documentation, and installation procedures for compliance with project requirements.
  • Resolve technical, construction, and interface issues in coordination with engineering, construction, and project teams.
  • Monitor contractor performance, project schedules, costs, resource requirements, and progress against milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control requirements through inspections, testing, documentation, and defect management.
  • Support planning, execution, and monitoring of pre-commissioning, commissioning, performance testing, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Ensure adoption of best-practice construction techniques for structural, mechanical, and piping works.
  • Verify equipment readiness, troubleshoot commissioning issues, and ensure successful system handover to operations.
  • Facilitate asset transition to operations by supporting maintenance planning, reliability initiatives, spare parts identification, and technical documentation transfer.
  • Provide ongoing mechanical engineering support for plant reliability, performance improvement, maintenance optimisation, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants, operations, maintenance, procurement, and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain project reports, progress updates, inspection records, as-built documentation, handover dossiers, and other technical documentation.
  • Contribute to safe, on-schedule, within-budget delivery of mechanical projects, ensuring assets are constructed, commissioned, and handed over to the required performance standards.

Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or process plant construction.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical construction, equipment installation, contractor coordination, and site engineering.

  • Practical understanding of equipment installation, inspection, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, equipment datasheets, P&IDs, installation procedures, technical specifications, and quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, materials handling systems, pumps, piping, conveyors, crushers, and relevant mineral processing equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical maintenance, equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and asset management.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, equipment suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling, construction reporting, quality assurance, and document control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Project, CMMS, or similar systems is an added advantage.
  • Ability to manage remote project delivery environments effectively.
