Research & Development Officer

Job Purpose

The Research & Development Officer is responsible for conducting research, developing new products, improving existing products and processes, and exploring innovative technologies that support the growth, competitiveness and overall success of Swiss Bake Limited.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of Food Science and Technology.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Product and Process Development: Plan, conduct and evaluate product and process development trials to improve product quality, consistency, efficiency and performance.
• Packaging Development: Conduct packaging development trials to identify and evaluate suitable packaging materials and solutions that enhance product protection, quality and shelf appeal.
• Shelf-Life Studies: Conduct shelf-life studies to determine product stability, quality and safety throughout the intended storage period.
• Sensory Analysis: Conduct sensory evaluations to assess product attributes, including taste, aroma, texture, appearance and overall consumer acceptability.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Diploma or qualification in Science Laboratory Technology, Food Science and Technology, or another related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience in Research and Development, product development, innovation management or a related field.
