Tally Clerk

The Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) was established in 1988 to procure, store, distribute and sell fertilizer to smallholder farmers across the country, ensuring continuous access to affordable fertilizer. The Fund is inviting applications from suitably qualified and motivated Malawian candidates for the role of Tally Clerk.

Position Details

• Location: SFFRFM Regional Offices, Luwinga (1), Kanengo (1) and Chirimba
• Reporting to: Depot Supervisor

Purpose of the Job

The Tally Clerk provides tallying services to the regional depot.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive and dispatch fertilizer.
• Maintain stock records.
• Pre-pack goods.
• Inspect goods.
• Supervise temporary labourers.
• Conduct physical stock counts at the beginning and close of business.
• Verify the quality and type of stock moving in and out of the warehouse, rejecting any that does not meet minimum specifications.
• Produce weekly reports.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in logistics management from a reputable institution.
• At least three (3) years' work experience.

Additional Skills and Abilities

• Good knowledge of agricultural marketing, logistics and warehousing.
• Good knowledge of the Malawi Government's agricultural marketing policies and strategies, particularly as they relate to the smallholder agriculture sub-sector.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong business acumen.
• Numerate, with the ability to plan and supervise agricultural marketing and production data gathering and analysis, interpret trends, and recommend policy interventions.
• Clear understanding of the business and legal environment of the industry.
• General experience in human resource management and administration.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High degree of integrity, accountability and ownership in performing duties.
• A self-starter and effective team player with a demonstrated, verifiable record of results.
