Till Operator

Build Africa, Malawi's leading megastore for hardware and homeware supplies, is looking for a fully qualified and competent Till Operator to join its team in Blantyre.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately process customer purchases through the till system.
• Handle cash, card and mobile money transactions securely.
• Issue receipts, refunds or exchanges in line with company policies.
• Keep the till area clean and organised at all times.
• Ensure correct pricing and scan all items properly.
• Balance the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve basic customer queries.
• Report any till discrepancies or suspicious activity to the supervisor.
• Follow all company procedures and safety standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a till operator or cashier in a retail environment is an added advantage.
• Basic knowledge of sales systems and POS machines.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of honesty, integrity and accountability.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
